Joe was a good friend and is deeply missed. He was there at the beginning of the PA public employee labor movement and helped to start the union. It is because of him and his activism that so many working families are better off. 

I am saddened to hear of the loss of my friend Joe. We worked together at Norristown State Hospital and within Local 668 of the Service Employees International Union for many years before our individual retirements. Joe was a true advocate of the afflicted, the disenfranchised and the working class. His devotion to trade unionism was instrumental to building the public employee Union movement in Pennsylvania. Joe's personality was electric,  his smile would light up the room. Joe left a positive mark on the soul of whoever he came in contact. My heart breaks for his wife Carol and the family. Joe will be remembered and deeply missed.

Joe made a tremendous difference in my life.  In 2011, Wayne and I lost our Zena, a German Shepherd/Rottweiler female.  I missed her as did Wayne but he told me that I would have to pick our next  dog.  We met Joe and Travis in January 2012 and he sold me on a GSMD. We asked for a female companion dog, we ended up with a show quality male. But Toby changed our lives and filled my retirement with dog shows and other swissie activities. Three years later I found myself convinced (by Joe) to co-own a female with the hope that she and Toby would breed. He even convinced me to show Klara in the ring. Joe taught me a lot about taking care of newborn puppies which certainly helped when Klara had her first litter of 14 puppies. I am so sorry that Covid and his declining health kept him from  being active with Klara's second litter last December. He was always there to answer my questions. He was the first one I called when Toby bloated. He knew so much about the GSMD world and the breed, dog shows, breeding and was just a fantastic source of "dog" knowledge.  We shared a lot of great days, including the day Klara's won the  Award of Merit at Westminster in 2017. I will always remember his laughter  and his love of his dogs.

Too many fond memories to choose just one...dog shows, hikes, and many Swissy events. Joe had a great smile and an infectious laugh. He welcomed anyone and everyone. Many prayers to Carol and the family. I wish I could be there. 

Our heart felt condolences for the entire Neumann family. May God grant you courage and strength in this time of loss.

Joe, Carol Neuman, and I have been longtime friends for 
15+ years starting with their purchase of GSMD “Julie” from my 2nd litter,  and included many travels together to dog shows and other dogs related events.  
Unfortunately Joe’s travels have ended,  
but his memories will never end.  
RIP my friend.
