Marie Anne Roth

Marie passed away peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday September 24, 2024 at the age of 98, with her son Richard by her side. Marie was born March 22, 1926 to parents George and Salome Ferner. She was born in Sedley, SK and spent her childhood between Liebenthal and Fox Valley – places that remained close to her heart throughout her life. In 1946 she married Richard Roth and together they raised 5 children: Adele, George, Richard, Alice and Leslie. In addition to raising their family Marie prided herself on managing the bookkeeping and finances for Richard’s Carpentry business. She was witty, tenacious and funny – and stubborn as an Ox. These characteristics were immediately known by those who met her and were to credit for her long and independent life – living in her family home until her eventual passing. Marie had a zest for life and enjoyed playing shuffleboard and bowling with her husband Richard, going fishing on their boat, and taking care of her garden. Family was really important to her, and she was firmly planted as the center branch of the family grape-vine – keeping everyone informed on the latest events, world politics and changes to The Roughriders’ players and coaching staff.

She was predeceased by her parents George and Salome Ferner; sister Margorie Smithson; brother

Conrad Ferner; Husband Richard Roth and her son George Roth. Marie is survived by her sister Alice Gallo; children Adele (Pat) Florek and their three children, Chris (Lisa) Kasick and their three children, Matthew (Tasha) Florek and their two children, Lisa (Tyson) O’Dell, son Richard Roth, and his children, Garrett and Gillian (Tom), as well as their mother, Joan (Kevin), daughter Alice Roth, son Les (Cheryl) Roth and their children, Cameron (Lee Anne) Roth and their six children, and Nicholas (Sabra) Roth and their daughter.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone that was a part of Marie’s life. She will be dearly missed. A private event will be held for family at a future date.
