On January 16, 2021, Marga (Margaret) Hedwig Schmidt Klein said her final goodbye to daughters Beverly (Jerry) and Sherry; grandsons Russell (Ami), Blaine, Grant (Lana); great-grandson Brock Weyland; sister Gert Hepting; and numerous nieces and nephews. Born on May 19, 1922 in Alexandrow, Lodz Poland, to Hugo Rudolph and Ida Schmidt, she spent her childhood on the family farm in the Leroy area with Gert and brother Bill. While working later at Municipal Hail Insurance in Regina, she met and married carpenter Jack Klein and began her forever job as wife and mother. How will she be remembered? To some it will be as a traveler to such places as Mexico, Las Vegas, and Barbados. To others it will be as someone who enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and uno, attending the Arabian horse shows, eating O’Henry bars and peppermint patties, chuckling with Pepe le Pew, dancing the polka, knitting slippers, weeding her garden, making the world’s best French toast, darning socks and mittens, reading mystery stories, or sitting at her spot by the kitchen window working on crossword puzzles and word searches. Many will recall her laugh, and her amazingly youthful mind. Calling her “the family energizer bunny” is indeed appropriate for someone who kept on going so bravely even when afflicted by too many illnesses and two recent hip operations. Whenever you wear purple, her favorite color, think of her and remember.
