Shawn was born in Seattle WA and raised in Redmond WA. He was proud to be an Operating Engineer and belonged to the Operating Engineers Union Local 302 for over 30 years. He loved operating equipment. Shawn loved anything Motorsports related, especially NHRA, NASCAR, IndyCar, Motocross, Supercross and the Isle of Man TT. He also loved watching the Tour de France every year. He lived to go snowmobiling with his good friends, who he considered family. If Shawn was on the mountain, he was the best rider on the mountain, but he never bragged, he was just exceptional on a sled. Shawn had a larger than life personality and a smile and laugh that could light up a room! He had some of the best stories and a wicked funny sense of humor!
Shawn was preceded in death by his infant brother John and his Father, Gilbert Whyte Sr. He is survived by his Mother Myrna, his brother Gil Jr., sister Lisa (Bob), sister Jennifer (Mike), nephews Bobby, Brandon,Kevin, Kyle, Brady and Konner. Also by beloved family Boston Terriers Harley and Hornsby. Aunts Betty, Margot, Louise and Bonnie, his Uncle Al, and many cousins. Also his many friends who he considered family.
The strength, courage and dignity that Shawn fought AML with is beyond comprehension. Shawn had a strength that was matched only by his love for life. Shawn was an amazing son, brother, uncle and friend. He will always be in our hearts and he will be missed beyond words.
