Jack attended Issaquah High school (class of 1981) and later Western Washington University, where he met his wife, Susan (Trabold). He received a B.S. in Environmental Science (1986) and worked in the environmental waste industry until 2005. He then became part owner of Triple T Trading, a manufacturer and importer of footwear.
Jack and Susan married in 1988, and subsequently had three children: Mitchell (1994), Conor (1996), & Kylie (1999). After living in Kirkland and then Woodinville, Jack and Susan built their forever home in 1997 in Redmond, Washington.
Throughout his life, music had a heavy influence on Jack. Following in his father’s footsteps, he became an avid drummer. He played in many bands including, "The Moonpins," "The Fuze,” "The Joneses," & "All the King’s Men." He acquired skills with the guitar and recently the bass. His newest project was starting a band with his friend Mike and son Conor.
Jack was known for his collection and vast knowledge of Washington red wine. He was happiest when holding a glass of red, talking about the intricacies of its taste, color, and aroma. His love for wine complemented his passion for cooking. When eating at home, he spent hours crafting a fabulous meal. When eating out, he spent equal time researching the perfect restaurant. When traveling abroad, finding his next meal was always the highlight.
Business was more than just work for Jack; it was his passion. Work provided him with an outlet for his love of numbers and negotiations. Triple T was his second family. He was thrilled when his daughter, Kylie, announced her desire to major in Business Marketing. Jack was always looking for new investments. When his son, Mitchell, decided to purchase his first house, Jack jumped at the opportunity to partner with him.
Supporting his wife’s many creative endeavors and cheering on his children as they became adults gave Jack the opportunity to shine as a husband and father. Small acts of silliness, kindness, and care were part of his daily routine.
Friends, family, and colleagues of Jack all knew him for his quick wit, sense of humor, and his legendary Christmas letters. Although no one found him as funny as he found himself, his jokes always lightened up a room and made those around him feel at ease. His generosity and good nature were appreciated by everyone who knew him.
Jack will be remembered as an amazing father, husband, friend, chef, wine connoisseur, musician, coach, and leader. Every day will be harder without him, but he will forever live on in our memories and hearts.
