Eddie Ray McCallister 1939 – 2024
Eddie R. McCallister, 85, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at Sierra Oaks in Redding, California.
Born March 22, 1939, in Asbury, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ernest Perry and Madeline Bonnie Burns McCallister.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Ardis Anderson McCallister, grandson David Smith, five brothers, Kenneth McCallister, Bob McCallister, Perry McCallister, Keith McCallister, Lael McCallister, three sisters, Elaine Allen, Kayle Harvey, Patricia Moore, brothers-in-law Bill Allen, Gerald “Jake” Harvey and sisters-in-law Peggy McCallister, Jeanne McCallister and Kay McCallister.
Mr. McCallister was one of 12 children and grew up in Asbury, West Virginia and attended Alderson High School and graduated in 1957. After graduation he moved to California and began his career as a carpenter and married Ardis Anderson on November 10, 1961. They lived in Livermore, California up until his retirement from the Carpenters Union after 30 years and moved to Redding, California.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed bass and salmon fishing and gardening. He and Ardis loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Reno, the Southwest, and Alaska and Mississippi River cruises.
Survivors include three brothers, Jim McCallister and his wife, Shirley of Livermore, CA, Joe McCallister of Redding, CA, Garry McCallister and his wife Frances of Alderson, WV, brother-in-law Ken Moore of Glen Allen, VA, and sister-in-law Lona McCallister of Livermore, CA, nieces and nephews, Debra Cardoza, Marlene Anderson, Shawn Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Ronald Anderson of Turlock, California, Bonnie Baber, Elizabeth Bareford, Andrew Moore, Mark Moore, Brian Moore of Richmond, Virginia, Jim McCallister, Steve McCallister, Doug McCallister, Laurie McCallister, Peggy Law, Gary Harvey, Bill McCallister, Tim McCallister, Michael McCallister Donna Piazza of Livermore, CA, Ernie McCallister of Stockton, CA, Cindy Avignone of Reno, NV, Murphy McCallister of Redding, CA, Debra Reyes of California City, CA, Jeff McCallister and Joe McCallister of Asbury, WV.
Services will be held at McDonald's Chapel on December 30th at 11am.
