Kathleen (Kay) Lauretta Haley, 101, of Red Bluff passed away on Friday, January 6th at Red Bluff Senior Living. Born on October 24, 1921 in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Kay was the third youngest child of J. Thomas Hughes and Elizabeth “Bessie” Jane Mullen. Kay was married to Louis E. Haley for 27 years until his passing in 1987. They retired to Red Bluff in 1979. Kay’s “retirement” included a career in real estate as an agent and broker. Kay was active in the Sacred Heart’s Women’s Guild, St. Elizabeth’s Pink Ladies, and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Kay is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her seven brothers and seven sisters, and her son-in-law Steve Cumpton. She leaves behind her beloved children, daughter Susan Cumpton and son Brian (Suzanne), grandchildren Nicole and Chris, and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 19th from 4:30PM to 8PM with a rosary from 6PM to 7PM at Hoyt Cole Chapel of the Flowers, 816 Walnut St., Red Bluff. A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, January 20th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 515 Main Street, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery with a reception afterwards at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 2355 Monroe Avenue.
