Rosalye L. Yashek (nee Levine) passed away on June 15, 2024, at the age of 95 in Wyomissing, PA. She was born on September 26, 1928, in New York City, NY, the daughter of the late Samuel and Victoria Levine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Yashek. Rosalye is survived by her daughters Linda Yashek Hughes and her husband Robert C. Hughes and Kimberly Yashek Lockhart, widow of J. Douglas Lockhart, as well as her grandchildren Samantha E Hughes, Robert J. Hughes, and Lauren M. Hughes.
Rosalye attended Kutztown High School and later pursued higher education at Kutztown University. She began her career as a librarian in Montoursville, PA, and later served as the librarian at Pequea Valley High School in Kinzers, PA, from 1963 to 1979, leaving a lasting impact before retiring.
Rosalye was beloved by her friends and family. Rosalye will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her love of reading, and her generous spirit towards those in need. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting baby blankets for donation to Mary’s Place. She had a passion for watching basketball and football. Rosalye was a member of Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom in Reading, PA, and contributed to many local charities.
The funeral service will be held at Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom, 555 Warwick Dr. Wyomissing, at 10 am on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 followed by burial at the Mt. Sinai Cemetery.
