Michael "Mohawk" John Scheifele, 67, of Bernville, sadly passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 in Tower Health Reading Hospital after injuries he suffered in an accident on Rte. 183. Michael was the loving husband of Roxann Vivan (Sivak) Scheifele.
Born in Reading on November 15, 1950, Michael was the only child of the late Charles and Josephine (Kiwak) Scheifele.
Michael proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Kirby Vacuums as top sales man for five years before he worked on computers with Ram Industries. After that, he got into trucking which he loved. He first drove for Eastern Industries, then Berks Products and lastly, Adelphia Seafood.
Michael was a member of the Northkill, Perry, Shartelsville, Daniel Boone and South End Gun Clubs.
Michael was known for his jokes and his big heart. A proud recovering alcoholic that enjoyed going to AA meetings and helping others in their struggles. He even counseled at Frackville Prison. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and his passion was motorcycles. When the weather was right, he could always be found cruising around on his bike.
Michael was a family man and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and loved taking them to his favorite ice cream shop, Candy's on Rte. 61. He will be sadly missed.
In addition to his sweetheart, Roxann, Michael is survived by two sons: Joseph Scheifele of Bernville and Christopher Scheifele of Chicago, Ill; two daughters: Christina (Scheifele) Waltz and her husband, Robert, Jr. of Exeter Twp. and Tara (Scheifele) Stewart of Chicago, Ill; a stepson: Patrick D.A. Concordia, Jr. of Reading; nine grandchildren: Kara, Brenden, Gavin, Jaiden, Lillyana, Logan, Tiernen, Austin and Aaron; adopted granddaughter: Cyniah and all of his close friends that were like family in AA.
In addition to his parents, Michael is predeceased by a son, Justin Lee Scheifele.
A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 6pm in Auman’s Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. A viewing will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6pm. Motorcycles are welcome and in Michael’s style- CASUAL DRESS ONLY!
