Judy was born in Patrick, South Carolina, and was the fifth child of eight children, four of which preceded her death. Judy moved with her family to Reading, Pennsylvania at the age of nine years old, and attended schools in the Reading School District. While she attended Reading High School, she was actively involved in the fashion design program at Reading Muhlenberg Votech and received many awards for her accomplishments.
On November 5, 1977, she was united in Holy Matrimony with the love of her life, Michael Butler. This union was blessed with six children.
Judy was revered as the “Virtuous Woman” as in Proverbs 31, and worked fervently in and out of her home. Her many occupations consisted of: administrative assistant, secretary, switchboard operator, babysitter, substitute teacher assistant, and was currently employed at Wilson School District as a study hall monitor. Her skills were not only used in the workplace, but also in her home and church. She had a heart for ministry and a love for the church, and she had no problem serving in many capacities, such as church secretary, church clerk, youth leader and director, sunday school teacher, praise dancer, choir member, praise team member, usher, and she even headed the vacation bible school. She was well known in local churches and was ready to render her services at any time. Lastly, her proud accomplishment was creating her first business, JAM Design, where she designed and created handmade products.
Judy had a quiet spirit and a bright smile that would make anyone that she met feel at peace.
