He was the loving husband of the late Katherine (Boone) Booker whom passed away in 2007.
Born in Birdsboro on November 21, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Ozella (Walton) Booker; Sr.
John was a graduate of Birdsboro High School which is now called Daniel Boone High School where he excelled in sports.
He was employed as a truck driver with Yellow Freight System in Lancaster for 30 years before retiring in 1996. He was awarded from the company for driving one million miles without an accident.
John was the former trustee of the former Colored Political Club, a member of the Berks Lodge #47 and the American Legion, #962 George Washington Carver.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, watching sports and playing the lottery.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory, six children, Wanda Lynn Booker of Souderton, John Booker of California, Brent Lawrence Booker of Colorado, Joseph Gary Booker of Reading, Scott Devlin Booker of Philadelphia and Dana Booker of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Chester and Ronald Boone; sister-in-law, Delores (Atwater) Booker; special daughter, Lisa Fuller and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Katherine; John is predeceased by a son, Gene Frances Booker and brothers, Charles and George Booker.
Going Home services for John will be at 11:00am on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Friends and family will be received in the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11:00am. John will be laid on Monday, February 8, 2016 to rest with his fellow soldiers in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
