Edgar C. Grinnage, born October 15, 1937. With heavy hearts, we announced his peaceful departure on June 3, 2024, he was surrounded by his loving wife and family. He left behind a profound legacy and cherished memories. Edgar was born in Reading, PA to the late Alice Grinnage Brown and the late Beverly Brown his step father. Edgar was a graduate of Reading High school. Followed by attending a trade School. He was employed by Birdsboro Steel Corporation for 28 years as machinist, thereafter he was employed by Telco for 16 years, as a electrical worker.
In marriage he found his soulmate, Bertha Battle, they joined as one on July 25th 1959, at St. Margaret's Church In Reading, PA. They were one month shy of being married for 65 years. During this union they were blessed with three children, Jeffrey L. Grinnage, married to Donna Grinnage, and the late Sheila Grinnage and Joy Alexander married to Wesley Alexander. Also he was preceded by 8 grandchildren, Darnell Hayes, Precious Johnstone married to Garry Johnstone Jr., Jeffrey Grinnage Jr., Clarissa Wiederhoeft, Jayme Johnson, Renee Johnson, Monique Campbell married to Christopher Campbell, Destiny Martin, O'Syris and Kayzion Alexander. In addition to 10 great grandchildren, 2 of them that he helped raised Deojay & Zoria Warrick.
Edgar served in the United States Army. Edgar was a pillar of strength and can fix anything. A jack of all trades, that includes home repairs, remodeling & auto mechanic. He had a passion for cooking, traveling, taking long walks with his wife, hunting, horseback riding, racket ball, bicycling, and listening to the Blues & old time gospel.
He was a pillar of strength, offering unwavering support and unconditional love to his family and community. Edgar's legacy of kindness, generosity, and selflessness will forever be cherished. In his presence, hearts were lifted, burdens were lightened, and spirits were uplifted. Though we mourn his loss, we find solace in the beautiful memories we shared and the profound impact he had on our lives. As we bid farewell to Edgar let us celebrate his life, honor his legacy, and carry his spirit of love and compassion in our hearts. May he find eternal peace in the embrace of heaven, knowing the love he shared continues to resonate in our lives.
