I'd known Alvin since 1974, and he became my best friend. We shared as much time together as possible, which included a weekend trip to VA, several years later. We did several "foghorn-leghorn" routines over the phone and had each other laughing hysterically. When I moved out of state in 2012, Alvin and I kept connected via email as much as possible. Alvin's heart was as big as his stature and I'm REALLY going to miss not getting his emails, it's so sad to know he's gone. Guess I'll see you again when I get to heaven.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. Alvin meant the world to me. He was always so kind to me and my children.  Even after Frank and I were divorced he still treated me like family. I loved him dearly and wish I could have at least said goodbye.

I remember when I was little and the one day me and my brother used hair chalk and put it on his hair. Popop was the most loving great grandfather you could ever know. We all loved him very much and he was an amazing person. We love you popop, you will always be in our thoughts and memories. 

If I had a penny for all of the memories I have of you, I would have more pennies than there are stars in the sky. We would just pick up and drive to another state for breakfast. We took so many road trips, fishing trips, and rides on the truck. Then there was the road trip to Texas, where we drove for 24 hours without staying the night anywhere. I remember all the times you took my side when I was in trouble. I was Poppop’s girl, and I could do no wrong. You told so many stupid jokes and harassed any nurses, waitresses, or gas station attendants you met. I don’t think you met a single person that you weren’t able to make laugh or smile. You allowed the kids to color your hair with hair chalk, until you looked like a walking Easter egg...even though you knew you had to walk into the gas station looking like that! You would call me at 2:00 in the morning because Dominick the Donkey would come on the radio, and you just HAD to sing it to me.  I miss you so much. Thank you for being a bright light in the dark world. We love you
The picture is the last time I took him fishing...he didn’t catch anything except the stick, all day!

Everytime I was around you and the family, even in sad times or when you were sick, you always had a sense of humor and a story and made a bad situation funny with your jokes. You left that legacy with your whole family.  I never laughed as much as when I was  with you and your family. You will be missed. May you forever have peace and joy and one day we will all be reunited again.

I’ll never forget how you would always smile and laugh when you would see me, like everyone knows me family, friends and loved ones  know I am one of a kind person,and when I would call my Beautiful,Wife and Your Beautiful Daughter Stacey Babe and Hun, all the time you would just look at me like  would you please stop with the mushy,gooey,zappy talk and just laugh, you were like a second Dad to me, you would talk to me about Big Foot,Hunting,fishing, ghost investigations,”and John Wayne cowboy movies, I Remember when my Nana said you looked  handsome like John Wayne at Me and Staceys Wedding ,and that made your day,Us talking about when TV was TV with the classic shows like The Honeymooners,Car 54, Where are you,Star Trek,The Muppets especially the older grumpy two movie guys in the Muppets,  would make you laugh, who would sit on the chairs in the balcony,  watching Looney Toons Halloween, movie, and your Cowboy shows,The Rifleman,GunSmoke Bonanza,every time I see older TV shows I think of you, Alvin you were like a second Dad and Father in law,  to me and second Mom with your wife and Staceys Mom Fran, but when you hold a loved ones memories closed to your heart you will live for ever, We all will miss you so much down here,But God has  taken you home to heaven now to be with the rest of our loved ones in heaven now, we all know your at Peace with your self now,and your not suffering no more,We all Love you and will miss you so much, 

Were all going to miss you pop pop. I would have liked to spend more time with you than I have. I will always remember how funny you were. You always had funny stuff to say and funny stories everytime you saw me. I love you and I will miss you!

Dad, I can’t pick just one memory there are countless ones , but I will never forget how you would always hide behind something and jump out and scare us kids. That was something you passed down as I do that to everyone now . You always told us you loved us, thought us right from wrong and gave us a lifetime of memories I’ll cherish forever.  I love you to infinity and beyond. Fly high with our loved ones that were waiting before you , love you

I remember when you would take me on the truck and run over the road and I would fall a sleep and you would make the truck stop fast and I would wake up and all the places we ran I will miss you dad go in peace until we meet again

Growing up, Aunt Fran and Uncle Alvie house was a second home to me as I was always hanging out with my Cousins, it was the best of times with memories I will always cherish. My cousins are like my brothers and sisters. Uncle Alvie was always fun and he loved fish . If he wasn’t talking about fishing he was cracking jokes or we were teasing him about big foot. He cherished his wife, kids and grandchildren and family. He had a good laugh. He was a good man, he will be missed. May he Rest In Peace. 

I remember dad James Shade his son Butchie and I up hunting in Tioga we get to the Ski Saw Mill just get in the room and dad says ok I'm bored and he wants to go home and I said aww what you want to go home to mommy and dad looks at me and said shut the hell up.

I remember all the times when we would ride in the tractor trailer a cross country I will miss you dad

I remember when he picked me up from work when I worked at Redner's when he drove over the medium at Wawa and had the truck up on two wheels
