She was born August 1, 1947, in Fairdale, Pennsylvania, to parents Robert and Ellen (Bradley) Coffman. Mary Ellen graduated from Mapletown High School in 1965.
She dedicated much of her life as a teacher’s assistant at Happy Day School. Mary Ellen looked forward to going to work each day and helping to be a part of her students’ lives. She also enjoyed shopping, camping trips, dancing, and singing karaoke.
Mary Ellen was known by many names such as Bubba and Nana to her nieces and nephews, many of whom she raised as her own children.
Mary Ellen is survived by her siblings: Linda Sharpneck, Robin McKenzie, and Robert Coffman, along with generations of loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James E. McDonald, brothers Ernest Coffman and William Coffman, and her niece Joellen McKenzie.
Her wishes for cremation are being honored and a celebration of life will be held on a later date.
