He was born January 11, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Kenneth and Edith (Fenn) King. Marvin graduated from Stow High School and then enlisted in the US Air Force. He proudly served in the Vietnam War, and then attended Bohecker’s Business College when he returned from overseas. Marvin retired from Filmco in Aurora after 30 plus years of employment.
Marvin enjoyed exercising and was a longtime member of the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium. He participated in many marathons and triathlons throughout his life. Marvin also enjoyed racing canoes. He was a member of the Ohio Canoe Association and was a state champion in the 1990’s.
Marvin was an avid reader and book collector. He also collected Native American artifacts and bottles. He spent many days combing through the Arizona desert and Colorado Mountains looking for relics, and was a member of the Ohio Bottle Club.
Marvin is survived by his son Shawn (Tammy) King, his grandchildren: Trey Kaehne, Rylee King, and Ian King, and his brother Larry. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cathy, and his sister Barb.
His wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family will be received Monday, September 30, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Graveside Services with Military Honors will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
