She was born June 26, 1942, in Parma, Ohio, a daughter of the late John “Butch” and Ethel “Wifie” (Farrell) Berg. Marilyn worked with payroll and finance throughout her career, eventually retiring from Robinson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and other social clubs.
Marilyn loved her crafts and baking. She used to bake wedding cakes at her home. Marilyn was a talented seamstress, and has crocheted well over 100 afghans that were given to family and friends as gifts throughout the years. She also enjoyed starting her day playing solitaire and other computer games every morning.
As a result of her generous spirit and enjoyable personality, she was loved by many. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her family, and she will be dearly missed. 55 years ago, on July 1st, Marilyn married David Baranyai Jr. at the Hilltop Christian Church. In addition to her husband, Marilyn is survived by her daughters: Kimberly (Greg) Benner, Kelly (Kimberly) Baranyai-Pugliese, and Kris Baranyai, her grandchildren Derrick and Kaile Benner, as well as her sisters Janice Abram and Rose (Bruce) Henniger.
Marilyn’s wishes of cremation are being honored and no services are scheduled. Final resting place will be Hillside Cemetery in Mantua. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Marilyn’s name to the Shalersville Historical Society or the Mantua Garden Club.
