He was born August 15, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Joseph A. and Angela B. (Lanza) Latona. Joe graduated from John Adams High School in 1963 and retired from Nestle-Stouffer’s after 28 years of employment. Joseph proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
Joe played football for John Adams HS and was an avid Browns fan. He was also quite the history buff, especially focusing on the Civil War and Native American history. Being from Cleveland, Joe had a great appreciation for the movie “Christmas Story”, and will be buried with his Red Ryder BB Gun.
On November 3, 1978, Joe married his sweetheart, Gloria. Together they raised their blended family with love. Joe took great pride in his home, always helping to decorate and plant flowers. Joe also had a unique obsession with vacuuming.
Above all, Joe was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. Joe is survived by his wife of 40 years Gloria (Turner) Latona, brother and best friend Frank W. Latona of Dayton, children: Joseph (Denise) Latona, Michelle (Steve) Gross, Krista (Bret) Dotson, Michelle (Richard) Sparrow, and Edward (Heather) Latona, grandchildren: Donny Sparrow, Brandan Owens, Cailin Ray, Kimberly Ray, Kelly Ray, Kathryn Gross, Alyssa Latona, Brittney Dotson, Angela Sparrow, Nicole Latona, Gavin Latona, Aiden Latona, and Madison Latona, along with great-grandchildren Russell Brooks and Ollie Brooks.
