Joseph was born to parents Charles and Mary (Ken) Hayden in Ravenna, Ohio on August 9, 1942.
He enjoyed a long career as a press operator at Enduro Rubber Co., retiring after 45 years of service. Joseph was active and enjoyed socializing with friends at the Ravenna Moose, Ravenna Eagles and the Ravenna American Legion and for many years he played bocce in the Ravenna Moose and Italian Club leagues. He enjoyed hunting and liked to watch the Cleveland Browns and loved baseball as a big Cleveland Indians fan. Most of all Joseph loved and valued his family and grandchildren.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gay (Williams) Hayden and his son Shannon Hayden. Left also to cherish his memory are his grandchildren Kayla (Zach) Downing, Bradley Hayden, Amanda Hayden and great-grandchildren Lorelei Downing and Graham Downing. He also leaves his siblings Betty Stockley, Robert (Judy) Hayden, Joanne McCoy, Stan (Marge) Hayden and Merrily (Jerry) McIntyre. Surviving also are his in-laws Joyce Knapp, Jessie (Dave) Holsinger, Penney (Dick) Craig, Ronnie Williams and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St, Ravenna, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 5pm until the 6pm memorial service, officiated by Chaplain Bill Wisniewski. Private family inurnment will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery.
