She was born January 24, 1946, in Mantua, Ohio, to parents Donald A. and Lois J. (Garlic) Yonker. Janet left Crestwood High School early to get married and start her family of five children. She truly was the matriarch of her family.
Janet is survived by her children: Melanie Brooks, Virgil (Denece) Brooks, Deborah (Dwayne) White, Brenda Nolf, and Annette (Bradley) Anderson, as well as her 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Cathy (Gene) Miller, her brothers Robert (Irene) Yonker and Gerald (Marcie) Yonker, along with many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends, including her dear companion of 37 years Ted Kunka and his family.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Barbara Yonker and Cynthia Ensinger, her granddaughter Madison Brown, her niece Aubrey Stuttler, and her nephew Michael Yonker.
Janet advanced her career to supervisor at Catherine Clark Brown Berry Ovens in Twinsburg, until it closed because of a fire. Working at the bakery allowed her to follow a lifelong passion of cooking and baking. She later worked for Omega Pulltrusions in Aurora for 30 years until her retirement.
Janet enjoyed traveling all across the country and also to Jamaica. Many of the trips included stops at casinos where she liked to play the slot machines. She was an avid Betty Boop fan, enjoyed watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark or Lifetime channels, and was a collector of unique memorabilia.
Her wishes for cremation are being honored and no services are scheduled. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
