Gerald was born in Salem, Ohio on February 20, 1932 to parents William and Mary (Gray) Gross.
Gerald was happily married for 54 years to Shirley Jean Gross. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a Kent state alumnus and teacher for thirty years, retiring from Solon city schools. Gerald was proud that he was able to positively touch many kids’ lives through teaching. He was happily retired for thirty years and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, loved mowing lawns & gardening and telling jokes and stories.
Gerald is survived by his sons Eric (Pam) Gross and Todd E. (Anita) Gross and grandchildren: Beth Simmons, Julie Gross, Heather (Matt) Douglas and Amber (Tom) Hirst. Also survived by great-grandchildren: Taylor, Lauren & Andrew Simmons, Aaliyah Douglas, Orion Proudfoot and great-great grandson Atlas Simmons. Left also to cherish his memory is his brother Herbert Gross and many loving nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley Jean Gross, granddaughter Tiffany Renae Proudfoot and siblings Galen Gross, Bill Gross, Richard Gross and Phyllis Manzer.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, from 11am until the funeral service, officiated by Pastor Kevin Stutler, beginning at 12pm. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring.
