George Perry Ridenour, 81, passed away on May 2nd, 2015 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
George was born in Caryville, Tennessee on August 20, 1933 to parents Ernest and Velda Ridenour. He enjoyed a long career as a metal finisher at Chrysler Twinsburg, retiring after 41 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed in Germany during the Korean War conflict. George liked hunting and fishing and working with his hands, especially in the garden. He was a member of the Black Horse Baptist Church and truly loved his family.
He was a wonderfully strong man, simple in wants, ferocious in his love for his wife of 58 years, Jennie Lee (Saulsbury), his son James (Linda) Ridenour, granddaughters: Katie (Russ) Howard and Anna Christie; great-grandchildren: Jeremy & Benjamin Christie, Alexis, Katelynne and Zachary Howard. He is also survived by sisters: Christine (Harold) Cox, Nancy Robinson, Patricia (James) Rice and Pauline (Jay Tom) Lawson and his brothers: Tom (Narcie), David (Joyce) and Donald (Janie) Ridenour. Surviving also is his sister-in-law Alyne (Charles) Renner and brother-in-law Sammy Saulsbury along with many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters-in-laws: Helen and Mildred Saulsbury and his brother-in-law Ken Robinson.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 where funeral services, officiated by Pastors’ Dallas Sanford and Tom Mesaros, will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
