She was born on March 29, 1942, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to parents Jesse Merrill and Mildred (Montgomery) Dean. Ellen graduated from Southeast High School in 1960 and married her beloved husband “Doc” on September 9, 1961, and they had two children Jeffrey and Jill.
Ellen was a homemaker until her children were in school and then began working at Southeast School District, where she remained for forty years, before retiring in 2020. She was a member of a bowling league, an avid reader and a diehard Cleveland Indians fan. Ellen always gave stray animals a home and loved to shop. Most of all, she cherished her time spent with her family, especially her grandkids and great-granddaughter.
Ellen is survived by her husband Donald “Doc” Reagan, son Jeffrey Reagan, daughter Jill (Reagan) Maines, grandchildren: Zachary (Amanda) Reagan, Alexander Reagan, Logan Maines, and Tatum Maines, as well as her great-granddaughter Mikayla Reagan. Her memory will also be cherished by her brothers Merrill “Butch” (Terri) Dean and Ed (Tracey) Dean, along with many other loving extended family members.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Effie Mae (Denzil) Deuley and Shirley Durieux.
Friends and family will be received Friday, March 24, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, and Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service officiated by Pastor Rick White at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E.
