Charles A. Brode

Born in Lulu, Michigan on January 29, 1933 Al moved to Ravenna at a young age where he grew up and graduated from Ravenna High School, class of 1951. Al served as a Seabee in the United States Navy for 4 years stationed at Midway Island and The Philippines among other locations. He was very involved with youth sports as President of both Pee-Wee football and Hot Stove baseball in the early 1970’s.

He married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Filomena), August 16, 1958. They moved onto the Brode family homestead that Al purchased from his grandparents after he was discharged from the service. There they spent their entire married life raising their family together. Al was a carpenter by trade and a proud member of Carpenter Local Union #639 for 72 years. He worked for several construction companies through his career before taking a job as carpenter for the Ravenna School System. His work is still displayed in many of the school's classrooms. Al’s proudest accomplishment was building homes for his three children and their families on the Brode homestead. He was currently overseeing construction on the newest home being built across the road by his oldest grandson, Tyler. As a member of First Congregational Church of Ravenna for over 65 years, Al served for several years as a deacon.

Al is survived by his three children; Brad (Cheryl) Brode, Doug (Kelly) Brode, and Linda (Jim) Markijohn. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren; Brittany Brode, Chelsea (Allan) Brown, Tyler (McKenzie) Brode, Garrett (Emily) Brode, James Allen Markijohn, Haylee Ann Markijohn, Heather Markijohn and great-grandson Levi Brown. Al was very much looking forward to the arrival of his newest great-grandson due in January. Al is also survived by his brother & sister-in-law Gerald & Dottie Brode and Sister-in-law Betty Russell as well as several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Al was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Mary Ann; Parents Oscar and Evelyn Brode & William and Juanita Weber; Infant Brother Norman Brode; Step-brother Glen William (Billy) Weber.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Crossroads Hospice Uniontown for their care and support. To the aides who helped Dad daily, our family is eternally grateful to Jessica, Amy, Don, Megan, Jackie, Georgia, Debi, Patty, Stephanie and Jen. We know how you have all said Dad touched your lives deeply. You have all touched our lives as well. You were his angels in his time of need and he enjoyed every single one of you more than you know.

A private graveside service has been requested. Interment next his wife at Maple Grove Cemetery will follow.
