She was born October 19, 1929, in New York, New York, to parents Frank and Laura (Gilbert) Piantosi. Betty left the big city at age 18 and moved to Akron. A few years later, she moved to Ravenna.
Betty was a strong willed woman who was devoted to her family. She raised six children and cherished her time spent with her grandkids. Betty also worked at Colonial Rubber for several years. She was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially cheering for the Browns and Indians. Betty was a longtime member of American Legion Post 331 in Ravenna.
Betty is survived by her children: Don (Connie) Edens, Ron Edens, Connie (Raymon) Kellison, and Kim Coontz; and her grandchildren: Raymon Jr., Katie, Derek (Laura), D.J., Melissa, Don Jr., Ron, Brett, Samantha, and Tiffany. Betty was affectionately known as “Mamaw Benny” to her loving great-grandchildren as well.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Noble Edens, her second husband and love of her life Thomas Melesky Sr., her sons: William Bruce Edens and Thomas Melesky Jr., and her granddaughter Amber Edens Salcedo.
