She was born on August 7, 1939 to the late James and Inez Ellis in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
Her marriage to her now deceased husband Albert Sellers provided a migratory life in the beginning of their 46 years together, due to his career in the US Air Force. Together they had lived in several US states and even Germany before finally settling in Rootstown, Ohio, where they spent the last of their years together. Barb remained an active member of the Ravenna VFW Post #1055 up until her passing.
Barb was adored by her large family, in which she acted as the matriarch of her four children, fifteen grandchildren, and five great grand-babies (and counting). She is remembered fondly for her love of baking and gardening, but most memorably her great sense of humor. Often she made those close to her fall into laughing fits with her offbeat jokes or unique and sometimes made up terminologies. As a mother and grandmother you could always count on her to lend a helping hand to anyone in need of the comfort she and her home provided. Barb always kept a good attitude in times of trouble; including her diagnosis and conquering of breast cancer decades ago. She was a courageous and kind woman through and through, for which she will be sorely missed.
Among her survived family are: her brother: Thomas (Mary) Ellis of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter: Deborah Blessing of Rootstown, sons: James Alan (Connie) Sellers of Ravenna, Scott (Jodi) Sellers of Rootstown, Paul (Shelby) Sellers of Peachtree, GA, as well as her aforementioned grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara’s sister Pat (Ken) Shultz of Canton, OH sadly passed away just a month prior to herself.
Her wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Barbara’s life on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at VFW Post #1055, 6000 New Milford Rd., Ravenna, OH 44266. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com.
