Winnie Wen-Yun Lin

Winnie Wen-Yun Lin, 56, passed away on November 22, 2018 surrounded by family and loved ones after a seven-year battle with lung cancer. Winnie always put others first and was a blessing to so many lives.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jann-Song, three children: Brian (30), Angela (27), Melissa (22), daughter-in-law Winnie Chen and a granddaughter, Eudora (9 months). Her family was her pride and joy, which she made apparent; her strong Christian faith and fighting spirit inspired many others. She will be missed, and the world is not the same without her.

Winnie was born and raised in Taoyuan, Taiwan before moving to the United States with her family in high school, where they settled down in Southern California. She went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Saddleback College and later worked as a nurse at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Her compassion towards her patients made her one of the best and most liked nurses wherever she worked.

She later put her career on hold to raise a family, which was a choice she never regretted. When her children were older, she returned to work as the secretary for Raleigh Chinese Christian Church, where she worked from 2005 until her cancer diagnosis in 2011. Here she served faithfully with a gentle and compassionate heart. Her impact was felt by many, and her kindness and spirit will always remain with us.

There will be a Visitation at Mitchell Funeral Home on Thursday evening, November 29th from 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm and a Memorial Service at the Raleigh Chinese Christian Church on Saturday, December 1st at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Winnie to the Raleigh Chinese Christian Church Winnie Lin Memorial Fund. All proceeds given to the Winnie Lin Memorial Fund will be donated to the RCCC Building Fund in Winnie’s name.
