Walter Roy Mohn, 86 of Raleigh, NC passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015. Walter was born on April 8, 1928 in Sunbury, Ohio to the late George Roy Mohn and Emma Julia Cornish Mohn. He drove a truck for Overnite Transportation for 30 years and Airport Express for 10 years.
Walter loved God and reading his Bible. In fact during his life he read multiple Bibles literally to pieces. He was a man of real faith. He loved woodworking and gardening. Probably one of the greatest joys he had of his life was his job as a greeter at Wal-Mart. He loved being friendly to people and helping where and when he could and Wal-Mart gave him that opportunity. He was a selfless man who received joy from serving others.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Evelyn M. Castleberry; his daughter, Emily M. Castleberry and husband Sandy Castleberry of Durham; and his Son Philip Mohn and wife Wanda S. Mohn of Smithfield. Grandchildren, Melissa Castleberry Nava (Marco)of Round Rock, TX, Jason P. Castleberry of Durham, Chrystal Mohn Boyle (Joey) of Lake Stevens, WA, and Ashley Mohn Gay (Lee) of Selma, NC; great grandchildren, Faith, Dylan, Brittany, Elio, and Amapola, and numerous nieces nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh. Burial will follow in the Mt. Herman Christian Church Cemetery, 8925 White Oak Rd, Garner. The family will receive guests for visitation prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
