Sherry Ann Hickman

Sherry Ann Hickman, 85, passed away at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing on August 30, 2021 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on January 10, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama; she was the daughter of the late Era Mildred Ray Hickman and James Gordon Hickman.

A devout Christian, Sherry was a prayer warrior for her friends and family. She always turned to God and entrusted He would provide, which He always did. Committed to her family, Sherry spent her life in the service of others, taking care of her grandmother, Fannie Brooks Hickman, her grandfather, professional baseball player Gordon Hickman, and her mother, Mildred.

Having lived most of her life in Birmingham, Alabama, Sherry moved to Atlanta, Georgia and Raleigh, North Carolina to be closer to her family. She loved Alabama football, Diet Coke, Chinese food, and Christmas.

She is lovingly remembered by her family: her aunt, Gladys Ray of Antioch, California, niece Tiffany Ferguson McLean (Mark), of Raleigh, North Carolina, and numerous cousins around the country.

Private Graveside Services were held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Birmingham, Alabama on September 10, 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sherry’s memory may be made to the Transitions Lifecare at www.transitionslifecare.org/donate.
