Sharon Leah Kelley Giffen: Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Child of God, 76, of Franklinton, North Carolina, passed away on October 31, 2022.
Sharon was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on October 21, 1946, and graduated from Belpre (Ohio) High School. She continued her education and professional training, receiving her cosmetology license, working as a beautician for over 30 years. She then trained and became a mail carrier for 10 years. then retired and began her great “retirement” adventure with Ralph, learning to drive a Semi Truck. They traveled the country together for 10 years and she was so proud of herself for learning to drive.
Sharon married the love of her life, Ralph Giffen on August 5, 1967, and they shared 55 years of wonderful marriage together. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family more than anything, and everyone knew that she loved being at the beach, no matter where it was. Sharon was ecstatic when in September of 2021 she was able to gather together in one house with Ralph, all of her children (and their spouses) as well as her grandchildren and all of her great-grandchildren for a celebration and reunion.
Sharon is survived by her husband Ralph Giffen of Franklinton, her children Michael (Michele) Giffen of Columbus Ohio, Angela (Chuck) Fleeger of Bryan, Texas, Jennifer Stephens of Chicago, Illinois and Darla (Billy) Beasley of Apex, North Carolina, her 10 grandchildren, Kristin, Joseph, Stephanie, Sarah, Macy, Mitchell, Christian, KeShawn, Camron & Irene, her five great grandchildren, Kingsley, Hayes, Makayla, Janie & Silas and her beloved siblings Sandy (Jim) Shivers, Mike (Shelia) Kelley and Margaret Hale.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Blenden & Irene Kelley and brother-in-law Ken Hale.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday November 4 at Millbrook United Methodist Church. Rev. Grayson Dye of Millbrook UMC will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 on Friday November 4 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home on East Millbrook Road in Raleigh, NC.
A graveside service will be held on at 1:00pm Wednesday, November 9, at Evergreen Cemetery, Rte. 339, in Belpre, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Millbrook United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Cancer research. The family wishes to thank Millbrook UMC Family for their love and care of Sharon and the many wonderful relationships she formed there.
