Ruby Soles Price Rush, 77, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018 following a long illness. Born on April 26, 1941 in Raleigh, she was the daughter of the late McNeil and Reatha Skipper Soles and wife of the late Leon A. Price and the late John Charles Rush.
Ruby spent her childhood in Charleston, S.C. before returning to Raleigh, where she raised two daughters with her husband Leon and enjoyed a decades-long career with Wachovia Bank. She was known for her friendly southern charm and spunky personality, both before her illness and during her residence at Sunrise of Raleigh.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Fox and son-in-law Michael Fox, of Raleigh; three grandchildren: Madeline Fox of Silver Spring, MD and Kevin and Katherine (Kat) Fox of Raleigh; and siblings: Louise Wilson of Fayetteville, Joseph Soles of Raleigh, and Thomas Soles of Moncks Corner, SC. In addition to Leon and John Charles, Ruby was preceded in death by her daughter Audrey Lynn Butcher, son-in-law Jesse Butcher, and by her siblings: Marie Montalbono, Hazel Grimes, Mack Soles and Ila Mae Hughe.
Many thanks to the Reminiscence staff at Sunrise of Raleigh for providing loving care for Ruby during her last few years, and to Transitions Hospice Care of Wake County for helping her to remain comfortable in her final days.
Family will receive friends on September 25th from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, with Funeral Services to begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions in Ruby’s memory may be made to the Spoonbill Foundation, c/o Wanda and Michael Fox, 3405 Clay Hall Court, Raleigh, NC 27606. The Spoonbill Foundation funds the development of therapeutics for a rare disease that affects Ruby’s grandson Kevin.
