Robert Paul Hickey, 59, of Raleigh, NC Friday, December 21, 2012. Born in New York, Bob was the son of the late Charles Hickey and Nan Quigley Hickey of Geneva, New York. Bob graduated from St. Stephen’s Grammar School in 1967 and from Geneva High School in New York in 1971. He then began a career as a land surveyor at various locations in the USA. Bob worked at project sites in Arizona, Texas and in North Carolina. In 1986 he moved to North Carolina. He met Cathie Livingston in 1988 and they married in 1993. Bob loved people and animals, especially his dog, Sam and was always quick with a joke and crossword puzzles. Being a true outdoorsman he loved camping, the mountains, playing games and teaching sports to his little pal, Charlie Greene. He liked to make people laugh and was a true friend to everyone and a helper to all. He was always true to his faith and his contagious smile will be missed.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Cathie Hickey; his two stepdaughters, Carley Livingston, Danielle Paldino, her husband, Peter; his four grandchildren, Delaney Allen, Emma Allen, Joseph Paldino and Jacob Paldino; a special family friend, Jack Wirth; his brothers Thomas and James of Tempe, AZ, John and wife Kathy, of Jamaica Plain, MA, Charles and wife, Janice; nephews Michael & Colin of Newton, Mass; Uncle Robert Quigley of Phelps NY, Aunt Kay Hickey of Hopewell, NY, and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, NC 27608. Graveside Services will be held 11 AM Friday at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Geneva, NY.
