He was born on March 23, 1946 in Chapel Hill, NC to the late Dwight Livingston and Sally Elizabeth Fuller Pittard, where he grew up with three older brothers and two older sisters.
He worked as an Inspector with the City of Raleigh in the Department of Engineering for 33 years before retirement. After retiring from the city, Nat went to work for Terra Tech. He finally fully retired in 2009.
Nat loved to spend time with family and friends and enjoyed camping at the lake, family cookouts, going to NASCAR races and cheering on the UNC Tarheels. He also enjoyed making his famous barbeque chicken and homemade cherry pineapple ice cream.
He is survived by; his son, Ronald Pittard (Mary Catherine) of Louisburg, NC. Daughter, Lisa Austin and granddaughters Amber and Ashley Austin all of Youngsville, NC. Sister Alene Bilyj (Steve) of Raleigh, NC and numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Charger, who he loved very much.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Tom, Floyd and James Pittard and sister Kate Emory.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at the Rex Heart and Vascular Hospital, the Rex Palliative Care Team and Promedica Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to Nat and our family in his final days.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 12:00pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. Officiating was Rev. Craig Gaither. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park. The service is available on out YouTube channel, using the link below, under 'donations'.
