He was born in Raleigh, NC, to the late Ransom Vernon Bennett and Betty Bryan Bennett. Bryan is survived by his brother Thomas D. Bennett of Virginia Beach, VA, and his sister Lynda Card and brother-in-law Rex Brown Card of Statesville, NC.
Bryan was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. He graduated from Enloe High School in 1974. He then studied at Campbell College, Buies Creek, NC where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Following graduation from College, he moved to Oklahoma for a few years to work in the oil industry. On his return to Raleigh, he found employment with the NC Department of Transportation where he worked until retirement at the age of 60. He lived the last few years of his life at Piedmont Crossing continual care facility in Thomasville, NC.
Bryan enjoyed playing golf, fishing and entering jams and jellies in the North Carolina State Fair competition. He also enjoyed building and shooting black powdered pistols and rifles. Bryan was a fan of reading western novels and watching old western movies on TV. He was very generous and would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it.
Bryan made a profession of faith at a young age and became a member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh at that time. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, NC at 12:00pm on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022.
