Born March 18, 1934, in Olustee, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Raymond R. and Rachel C. Moss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl, and younger brother, James Moss.
Ramona is survived by her daughters, Cathy C. McGill and Kimberly Renee Johnson (Tracy) and son, Jerry C. Cross (Laura); grandchildren, Sean McGill (Ann), Melanie Hincapie (Mauricio), Hollye McGill, AnnaScott, John, David and Angelita Cross and Benjamin Johnson; great-grandchildren, Tyler, LillyAnn and Teagan McGill, and Brayden and Nickolas Hincapie. She is also survived by her brother, Ed Moss of Russellville, Arkansas.
For the past 41 years she called North Carolina home; however, Ramona was born and raised in southwest Oklahoma where she lived until she married Carl. Carl’s job gave them the opportunity to live in several states across the country, including Tennessee, Arizona, Illinois and Virginia.
Ramona was well known for her skill in the kitchen and was an excellent seamstress, as well. She enjoyed reading, traveling and square dancing. She and Carl were members of the Sir Walter Squares for many years. Ramona was also active in Community Bible Study and Bible Study Fellowship. Her greatest joy, however, came from the times she was surrounded by her family. She took great pleasure in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 23, 2015, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Brown Wynne Funeral Home on E. Millbrook in Raleigh. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
