She is survived by her husband, Gene Reese of 65 years, her four children: Larry Reese of The Villages, Florida; Traci Quinn of Wake Forest, North Carolina; Marc Reese of Apex, North Carolina; and Mike Reese of Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as eleven grandchildren (Dani, Heather, Brian, Chris, Melissa, Sarah, Crissy, Katherine, Bailey, David, and Stephen), and two great grandchildren (Kinley and Ellie) all of whom she loved dearly. Her life was full of laughs and love, as she was known for never knowing a stranger. She spread the message of peace and positivity throughout her life and taught those in her family how to follow in her footsteps. She was born and raised locally in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated in 1952 from Needham Broughton High School and later graduated from St. Mary’s College in Raleigh. Following college, she worked as a secretary until her marriage to Eugene Reese in 1953.
Peggy traveled the world with her husband, as he was transferred place to place with the Air Force, changing lives as she went. She returned to Raleigh in 1972 and has lived there ever since. Her biggest passion in life was helping people and showing compassion regardless of if you were one of her children or a total stranger passing by on the street. Her biggest goal was to show love and help others reach their full potential, whether it was family, friends, neighbors, restaurant servers, hairdressers, or others in her life. She was a caring women and beloved mother who put the needs of others before the needs of her own. Along with her vibrant social life, she was an avid church goer to Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church for many years. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 17th at Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church with reception following. Donations in her memory may be made to the church.
