Patricia Ann Hughes

Patricia Ann Hughes, 90, passed away suddenly at her home in Raleigh, February 16, 2024. Pat was born August 28, 1933 in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, where she lived until marrying Herbert on February 27, 1954. Pat and Herb lived in many major cities across Canada as part of Herb’s career and settled in Raleigh with their final move in 1980.

Pat’s unconditional love of family and friends and her positive attitude to life resonates in our memories of times shared with her. Whether a heartfelt tête-à-tête, a life discussion, or a good ol’ chin wag, Pat listened with interest and without judgement. Pat was the patron advocate of the underdog. She loved meeting and helping people throughout her life, with the welcome mat always out and plenty of food at the ready.

Pat is survived by her children Richard, Reigh, Karen and John, and devoted son David; her 12 grandchildren Elizabeth (Richard), Shawn (Debbie), Sandra (Damian), Andrea (Mark), Shannon (James), Jessica (Ameera), Jake (Charley), Kimberly, Kirstina (Jeff), Charles-Edouard, Adrianna, Kristofer; her 10 great-grandchildren Jordan, Kassandra, Steven, Nicole, Ben, Liam, Jack, Layla, Rey, Jaxton;

her 3 great-great-grandchildren Asira, Ansel, Aulia; her brother James Ross Chapple (Winnie); her bonus siblings Florence and Gary; many nieces and nephews from the Chapple, Hughes and Morrison clans. Pat is preceded in death by her husband Herbert, parents James and Elizabeth Chapple, bonus mother Mary, sister Kaye, bonus siblings Charles, Earl, Patricia, Diana, Harold, nephews James and Kenneth and niece Lori.

Respecting our Mother’s wishes there will be no service. We celebrate her life in our memories, our gratitude of our times with Mom, and continuing to share her kindness and wisdom with our families, friends and underdogs.
