She was born on July 3, 1938 to parents, Marguerite W. Howard and Jack O. Howard, in Savannah, Georgia. After graduating from Broughton High School in Raleigh, Nan went on to study at Sullins College, in Bristol, Virginia.
She retired as an administrative assistant from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Nan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54-years, L. Thomas Lassiter, her infant son, Louie T. Lassiter II, her parents, and her sister, Sharlene H. Vainright of Greenville, NC.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Murphy (Paul, deceased) of Mooresville, NC; son, Jim Lassiter (Sheila) of Raleigh; and son, Al Lassiter (Stephani) of Niceville, FL. She was also blessed by her eight grandchildren: Matthew Murphy (Emily) of Raleigh; Ashleigh Krivulka (Ryan) of Havana, FL; Justin Murphy (Allison) of Huntersville, NC; Jackson Lassiter (Abbygail) of Newton, NC; Christy Heesacker (Kevin) of Lemoore Naval Air Station, CA; Caleb, Tabor, and Reni Lassiter, all of Niceville, FL; and her sister, Dolly Colwell (Keith) of Greenville, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC, on Wednesday, November 23rd at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately after the Memorial Service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to James B. Green Eastern Star Chapter, P.O. Box 17273, Raleigh, NC 27619-7273, where she was a 60+ year member, or to any personal favorite charity.
