He was born in Clinton Corners, New York to the late Harry Charles and Ruth Tousey Ostrander.
After graduating from Sanderson High School, Mike attended the University of South Carolina followed by East Carolina University. Upon completing his education, he enjoyed a successful career as a technology manager at IBM and Verizon, among other leading organizations.
Mike remained a fan of ECU athletics throughout his life, especially the university’s football and baseball programs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kirby Ostrander.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Renee Barnwell Ostrander; his sons, Travis and Grant Ostrander; a step-daughter, Kristin Johnston; and his sisters, Linda Shenay and Donna Blue.
A Gathering of Family & Friends is scheduled for Sunday, August 29 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC 27612. Per mandates and family request, facial coverings are required.
