Mark Alan Ash

Mark attended college at Harvard University where he met his wife Sarah, and he went on to receive his law degree from the University of Virginia. A respected attorney specializing in commercial litigation, Mark practiced law in Raleigh for more than 20 years and was admitted to the American College of Trial Lawyers. While law was his career, Mark’s passion was flying. He was a commercially rated pilot who logged more than 4,000 hours in everything from aerobatic biplanes to twin engine transports. He will be remembered by his family, friends and colleagues as a gifted writer, caring mentor, dedicated friend, and loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah, his son Samuel and wife Katie of Seattle, WA, and his daughter Rachel of Raleigh. Mark will also be missed by his parents, father Ralph Ash of Prescott, AZ, his mother Martha Crume Ash of Raleigh, his brother Jeffrey and wife Jeanne Binder of Raleigh, and the family’s close friend Georgina Lalli of New York, NY. Mark was preceded in death by his brother Steve.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at the Cox Aerodrome, 1616 Hwy 64 West, Apex, NC 27523.
