Lee Ann Kettler Sullivan, 73, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Rex Hospital. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 31, 1936. She is the daughter of the late Leo Kettler and Ann Ebert. She attended St. Dominic’s and Girls Catholic Central High and worked at McDevitt’s Religious goods store. She married William G. Sullivan on June 22, 1957, at Saint Dominic’s Church in Detroit.
She lived in Chicago, Illinois, from 1957- 1961, Detroit 1961-1962, Ft. Bragg, N.C., 1962, Okinawa 1963-1965, Denver, Colo., 1965 – 1970, Ft. Knox, Ken., 1970 – 1971, and in Raleigh, N.C., 1971 – present. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes and learned to play tennis after her daughter Julie was born and enjoyed playing in the Raleigh City League and the N.C. State Faculty Club.
She is survived by husband, Bill, brother and sister in-law Ebert “Skip” and Nancy Kettler of Rochester Hills, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law Anne and Greg Richardson, of Fuquay Varina, N.C., and their children Stephen, Maria and Shannon; daughter and son-in-law Betsy and Patrick Doone of Tampa, Fla., and their children Matthew, Jamie and Caitlin; daughter Rita Sullivan of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Scott McLeod of Waynesville, N.C., and their children, Rebecca (deceased), Megan, Hannah Lee, and Liam; son John Michael (deceased); son James Lloyd of Clarkesville, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Joe Hooten of Asheville, N.C., and children Daley, Joe and daughter to come. She was the life and the heart of her family; wife, mother, friend, dearly beloved.
Mass will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, 2906 Anderson Drive, Raleigh, N.C. Family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, from 7-9 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary’s Street, Raleigh, N.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lee Ann’s memory can be made to Catholic Charities of Raleigh, Catholic Charities, Development Office, 715 Nazareth Street, Raleigh, N.C., 27606.
