Kevin James Youngquist of Raleigh, NC passed away from natural causes on February 27, 2023, just two days short of his 47th birthday. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and attended North Allegheny public schools. He graduated from Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT in 1994. His years at Avon were challenging and rewarding, both academically, and in his personal growth. As with most of the boys at Avon, he played multiple sports in his four years there, including ice hockey and football. His baritone voice was put to good use with the school’s chorale and an elite group of singers called the Riddlers. The experiences and relationships built at Avon left a life-long impression on Kevin.
Kevin’s passion was for all-things Pittsburgh, with the Steelers topping the list (and the Penguins a close second). He appreciated old and new movies alike: West Side Story and Grease were childhood favorites, but he loved everything from Marvell to slapstick comedy. Music was always important to him, and he particularly loved the Beatles, Rush, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and so many others. He never missed the opportunity to try a new pizza place and always loved visiting New York (partly) for that reason.
Kevin loved his family and was proud to be an uncle to four. Our family loved Kevin for who he was, and we will cherish the memories of our time with him; time which doesn’t seem nearly long enough.
Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Lee Benson Youngquist. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen McCaughey Youngquist, his sister Krista Ream, his brother Kyle Youngquist, his brother-in-law Michael Ream, his sister-in-law Faena Youngquist, nieces Jordan Ream and Isabella Youngquist, and nephews Clayton Youngquist and Julian Youngquist.
