June Wrenn Branton, 75, of Roxboro, NC, died Thursday, December 19, 2024. Born in Roxboro in March, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Vance and Virginia Wrenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon Branton, and her son Jason Branton.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Vance and Heather Branton of Springfield, SD; five grandchildren, Taylor (Jake) Needham of Omaha, NE, Vance (Madison) Branton II of Sioux Falls, SD, Rachel Branton of Gretna, NE, and Olivia (Eric) Soe of Millard, NE, and Victoria (Sam) Guiterrez of Biloxi, MS; her sister Catherine (Marvin) Winstead of Leasburg, NC, brother Tim (Salome) Wrenn of Robersonville, NC, brother Vance (Polly) Wrenn Jr. of Raleigh, NC; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.
June graduated Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC in 1967. Soon after, she married Vernon in June 1967 and they walked side by side for 55 years until his death in 2022, their endearing love and dedication for one another setting the example to be followed in any relationship by all who knew them. June and Vernon settled in Cary, NC for the majority of their lives. June spent many years working in Raleigh, when she wasn’t acting as a taxi driver to all of her two sons’ activities. Despite their many activities, often with conflicting schedules, she made every effort to attend every possible event, where she made sure she yelled loud enough from the stands for them to hear her across the field! June loved travelling and making memories on the road with her family. June and Vernon took constant road trips when they could and June continued the tradition of spontaneous road trips with her sister Catherine after Vernon passed. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and grandnieces. She had a special bond with each one of them and took great joy in the time she spent with them. June was an avid reader, engaging conversationalist, and found particular enjoyment in the simpler things in life. She will be remembered for her genuine caring nature, kindness, her willingness to help anyone in need, whether she knew them or not, and the incredible love he poured out to everyone in her path. A woman of great faith, she is now home with her Lord and savior.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 10:30am in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00am.
