Looking back today on my Dad's passing, the emotion and sadness never leave, but I had a great memory come to mind today. One thing about my Dad is that he was fierce cheese efficient! HAHAHA LOL I remember all the time without fail, there would be several different blocks of cheese in the fridge and a tradition of having his cheese and crackers as an evening snack... the sharper or stinker the cheese, the better. :)

Thank you both for sharing this with us. I can’t believe you have lost both a husband and a father at once. I applaud your courage during this difficult time. Having lost my own dad and having almost lost Erik recently, I can only offer my deepest sympathies and wishes for good memories to survive beyond any pain. We are privileged to have amazing people in our lives, but we can’t hold onto them forever. I’m so sorry you couldn’t hold onto John a little longer.

Sherri,    I’m one of the many lives Jack touched during his life,  I will miss him dearly.  We are so sorry for your loss.

Sherry -- Steve and I were so very sorry to learn of Jack's passing.  We know he has struggled and glad he is now at peace.  We will be so happy to join in the celebration of his life -- we know you via the dog park and knew Jack primarily through his participation in the obedience class at pet smart with our dogs -- our partners are a blessing and we can only imagine how it feels to lose one!

I wish I could find more powerful words than I am so sorry for your loss. But I am deeply sorry, and cannot imagine what you and your family must be going through.

Last Thursday, I went on an endurance walk with Jack that lasted 28 minutes in the blazing Summer heat. He told me about the various places he had lived, about the family tradition of gathering each Sunday to talk about the week, and about your three granddaughters. He didn't complain a single time. In the last few minutes of our walk, I hit the button the open the garage and noticed the Marine license plate, then asked about his service. When I said "Good for you. Thank you". He took a deep breath and replied "You are good at your job". I inquired "PT?", but he smirked and clarified "Healing people". 

Those words mattered that day and are words that I will forever hold moving forward. In the short time I knew Jack, he seemed to be a man of few words but when he spoke, it was worth listening to. He was a kind and hard working man, with a dedicated and strong wife, and a loyal fun-loving pup.

Jack has crossed over and he will see a lot of friends that went before him, some day we will see him again. I know this to be true because most of the  work I do is working with the people that crossed over to the other side.

Dear Sherry,

I learned yesterday about Jack’s death. I know that he had been in bad health for quite a while, and his prospects for a long life may have been poor, but even when an outcome may be known, it is always a shock when it happens.

No one can know how you feel. Only you possess that inner knowledge, so I won’t pretend that I do. If there were something that I could do to ease the difficulties you now face, I would gladly do so. That is what family is for.

Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts, and you should always feel at ease about contacting me for any help you may need.
