John Jordan Edwards died at home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Lake Royale, North Carolina. He was born and grew up in Raleigh. John’s parents are Dr. James H. Edwards and Mrs. Jean Edwards. His sister is Julie Grice of Hickory, North Carolina.
John graduated from Elon College, majoring in Mass Communications. His senior project was producing a video about Greek life at Elon. It was shared with the students at Elon for many years and he gave copies to students who requested it.
After graduation from college, John worked as the chief video photographer at WWAY in Wilmington, North Carolina for several years. Then he received an offer to work at Sirchie in Youngsville, North Carolina. During his tenure at Sirchie, John was the Vice President of video production. He had the opportunity to travel and produced many videos for Sirchie. Two such opportunities were producing a video with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and producing several videos for the Montel Williams show.
Along with family, the interests that were important to John were his friends, political activism, and growing in his faith. He treasured spending time with his friends, cooking dinner for them, and watching movies with them. His friends especially enjoyed his love for horror movies. He and several of his friends created a short movie titled “No COD’s”. It was shown on cable television many times. John was an active member of the Franklin County Republican Party. He had been involved in political activism since his college days at Elon. John was a Christian. He was a member of Hillyer Memorial Christian Church. John also participated in Bible study with his neighbors at Lake Royale.
John is survived by his mother, sister, brother-in-law Bill Grice, and two nephews Brandon and Steven Grice. He also leaves behind many treasured friends.
The celebration of life will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery mausoleum on Tuesday, August 20th at 11 am. The family will receive friends after the service.
