Jeff was born in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania on April 24, 1955, and he later called Richmond, Virginia home, where he spent his childhood playing outside from dusk to dawn. He graduated from Meadowbrook High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from James Madison University, where he embraced classic 70’s long hair and a love of music.
Jeff married Lisa Mancuso Kaylor on October 18, 1987. They were married for 38 years, building a beautiful life together with their twin girls, Rebecca and Rachel, and later grandchildren, Flora, Jackson, Colton, and Sylvia. Jeff was a natural grandfather, with his jovial demeanor and fun-loving attitude. He was known to the children as “Papa Salty” – though he was much more sugar than salt.
After a celebrated career in medical sales for over 40 years, Jeff retired in 2021 and enjoyed traveling, working in his garden during the day, and stargazing in the evenings with his favorite tunes. He spent even more time on the water, at both the lake and the beach. Being outside with nature was where he thrived.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Lisa; his twin daughters, Rebecca White and Rachel Popp, and their families: Duncan, Flora, and Sylvia White; and Jeff, Jackson, and Colton Popp. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Webster. Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Arlene, and his father, Clarence.
Jeff’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but we will continue to celebrate him in the music we hear, the garden he grew and nurtured, and the memories we hold so dear.
The celebration of life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior to the ceremony at 1 pm. Reception will follow at 3 pm.
