Janet Rose Johns Fiest, age 68, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife and cherished mother of two, Janet’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and selfless dedication.
Janet grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania, and attended Woodrow Wilson High School, where she formed lifelong friendships. After graduating, she worked as a materials planner and customer service/sales manager for Nortel and C-MAC Micro Technology. Janet’s hardworking and compassionate spirit extended beyond her job, always putting others first. She met her husband Eric, the love of her life, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Known for her warm smile, quick wit, and fun-loving spirit, Janet brought laughter and joy to everyone around her. She was a strong, caring, and compassionate woman with a lively, spirited side that made her unforgettable. Janet poured her heart and soul into raising her two children, Emilie and Andrew, creating a home filled with love, guidance, and support. She was deeply involved in her children's activities, volunteering with their soccer teams as treasurer and managing the volunteer committee for the PTA at Brassfield Elementary.
Janet loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, skiing, gardening, and kayaking. She was an excellent cook, filling her kitchen with the warmth of home-cooked meals and cherished memories, where all were welcome. She had a deep love for her pets, especially her beloved dog Daisy, who brought her comfort and companionship.
Janet’s kindness, strength, and vibrant personality made her a beloved presence among her family and friends. Her memory will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Eric Fiest; her daughter, Emilie Fiest; her son, Andrew Fiest; her daughter-in-law, Allison Fiest; her father, Benjamin Johns; her stepmother, Kathleen Johns; her brothers, Benjamin Johns and Gregory Johns; and her sister, Barbara Johns. She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Johns.
A service for Janet will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 1701 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609 on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, a celebration of Janet’s life will be held in Pennsylvania at the Normandy Farm Silos Ballroom at 1401 Morris Road, Blue Bell, PA 19422 on Saturday, January 25th, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Janet’s memory to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, supporting efforts to find a cure and improve the lives of others facing this illness.
