Mr. Knox was born in Pitt County, NC on June 26, 1932 to the late James Wiley Knox Sr. and Nannie Lee Tripp Knox. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1950, and completed his formal education when he graduated from NC State University in 1954. Mr. Knox then served for over 4 years as an officer and pilot in the US Coast Guard. After completing his service in the Coast Guard, he and the love of his life, Allie Louise Davenport Knox, whom he had married in 1952 while at NC State, settled down in Raleigh. After serving as a sales representative for Lesco Homes, Mr. Knox started his own construction company, through which he built both residential and commercial properties. He was actively involved in the remodeling business up to the time of his death. He moved to his current residence in 1961, where he raised four out-standing children. Mr. Knox was a faithful member of Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church for 33 years, and North Haven Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church for 25 years. He was an active member of The Gideon’s International for many decades, as he endeavored to do his part in spreading the word of God. He was also a long time member of the Wake County Bee Keepers Association. Mr. Knox was, and is, a man greatly loved and respected by his family and many others who had the privilege of knowing him. We look forward with great anticipation to the time when we’ll be reunited with him in heaven.
