Jacob McCree Case, 23, died unexpectedly on January 29, 2021. Jacob was born to Randolph Case and Cheri Ponder in Henderson County where his family had deep roots. Jacob graduated from Garner Magnet High School, class of 2015.
Jacob encountered many challenges in his life but those challenges never kept him from living a generous life or expressing his love for his family and friends. As his friend Tyler writes, “He was the most loyal, caring and compassionate person the world had ever seen. When Jacob was around, the world felt at peace. He had a way with people that made it feel as if you’ve never experienced hardship or never will again. The world has lost one of its best, but his memory will always live on. His impact on those around him will never be forgotten, and will be felt in the hearts of his loved ones for as long as they breathe. Jacob was a saint walking among men. May he rest peacefully with no more pain.”
Jacob is preceded in death by his father, Randolph Case; his paternal grandparents, Grover and Lois Pace Case; and his maternal grandparents, Duane and Betty Ann Adkinson.
He is survived by his mother, Cheri Ponder; sister, Brianna Peters; and two aunts, Crystal Rogers of Surfside Beach, SC and Cindy Ponder of Asheville, NC.
The family wishes to thank Tyler Bryan-Harris for his loyal friendship and care for Jacob since childhood and for caring for the family during this time of deep grief.
