It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Chapman on December 15th at the age of 91.
Jack was born on April 3, 1933 in Huntington, W. VA. to Charles and Hazel Chapman and was one of six children. Following high school, Jack enlisted in the USMC earning accolades as an accomplished marksman and was stationed in Korea.
Upon returning, he attended Marshall University earning a B.S. degree in Physics in three years. After graduation, he joined IBM and married Earlene Faith Glover on October 24, 1959. He remained by her side until her passing in 2015. He maintained his 33 year career with IBM excelling in various Marketing Management positions and made many lifelong friendships including with his last love, Linda Drummond.
In his later years, he fulfilled his dream of traveling the world and went overseas with Linda multiple times. Jack was a man of many interests and talents. He was an avid sailor, earned his pilot’s license and loved snow skiing, golfing and Siesta Key Beach among other things.
He is survived by his son John Chapman and daughter Kim Chapman; Daughter-in-law Kristin (Lilley) Chapman; grandchildren Zachary, Brody and Kyle Chapman and Stevie Cummins.
Jack deeply loved his family, Linda, and his friends. His nephew said it best “He was a stand-up guy. I wish I was half the man he was.”

There will be a Celebration of Life service at North Ridge Country Club on January 9th from 5pm to 7pm at 6612 Falls of Neuse Rd. Raleigh, NC. All friends are welcome to attend.
