Henry was born in Akron, Ohio, the Rubber City, He graduated from St. Mary's High School and the University of Akron. He was a lifelong Catholic and an active member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Matthew's Church of Akron, Ohio, where he was also an active Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts. He loved Ballroom dancing, where he met the love of his life, Suzanne. They were together for 24 years. He shared his love of reading, music, and outdoors with his children. Henry was a Rubber Worker and Engineer for Firestone Tires & Rubber (now Bridgestone Tire), at tire plants in both Ohio and North Carolina. He was one of the first Engineers to transfer to the new North Carolina plant in 1974, and helped to get the plant up and running. He retired from Bridgestone after a 38 year career.
Henry is survived by his wife, Suzanne. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann. They had three sons, two daughters, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, all of whom survived him. Henry married Suzanne Zimmer in 1999. Suzanne brought Henry a bonus, three stepchildren, five grandchildren, and one great granddaughter, whom he adored. All of them survived him.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 11:00am at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Raleigh. Inurnment will be in Raleigh Memorial Park. A reception will follow the inurnment at St. Raphael Catholic Church.
